Director of Technical Accounting
Miami, FL About the role
We're hiring a Director of Technical Accounting to serve as the company's primary authority on complex accounting matters. Reporting directly to the VP of Accounting, you'll be a trusted partner to the CFO, external auditors, and cross-functional business teams navigating the evolving accounting landscape.
This is a high-impact, high-visibility role for someone who thrives at the intersection of technical depth and business judgment — someone who can read a complex standard, translate it into policy, and drive enterprise-wide implementation.
What You’ll Do
Lead technical accounting research on complex transactions, new standards (ASC 606, 842, 350, etc.), and emerging issues — producing clear, defensible position memos
Own the company's accounting policy framework: draft, update, and operationalize policies across the enterprise
Partner with Legal, FP&A, M&A, and business unit leaders on deal structuring, revenue recognition, business combinations, and other non-routine transactions
Serve as primary liaison with external auditors — manage the technical accounting workstream, lead footnote disclosure reviews, and respond to comment letters
Oversee SOX compliance for technical accounting controls: maintain process narratives, execute walkthroughs, and coordinate control testing
Drive implementation of new FASB/IASB standards, including project scoping, cross-functional coordination, and executive communication
Lead intercompany accounting governance, including transfer pricing alignment and eliminations
Mentor and develop accounting team members on technical topics; build internal capability through training and knowledge-sharing
What You Should Have
CPA required; Big 4 public accounting experience strongly preferred
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with meaningful time in technical accounting, audit, or SEC reporting
Deep command of US GAAP; familiarity with IFRS a plus
Proven track record authoring technical accounting memos and presenting positions to auditors and senior leadership
Experience supporting M&A transactions — due diligence, purchase accounting, integration
Excellent written and verbal communication; able to synthesize complex issues for non-accounting audiences
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams in a fast-paced environment
SaaS, marketplace, or PE-backed company experience is a plus
