Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year

Location:

Remote opportunity open to candidates in the Indianapolis, IN, Charlotte, NC, and Louisville, KY markets. Regular travel is required, so convenient access to a regional or major airport is important. These locations are especially attractive because they provide strong airport access and allow portions of regional travel to be completed by car.

Note:

Candidates must have 3+ years of trucking or transportation safety management experience and strong working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA compliance requirements. Regular travel and convenient airport access are required.

Job Description

  • Lead and continuously improve our company-wide transportation safety program.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and internal fleet safety requirements.
  • Conduct driver safety meetings, coaching sessions, and ongoing safety training.
  • Lead accident and incident investigations and identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Partner with insurance providers and internal teams on accident and claims-related matters.
  • Build strong relationships with drivers through regular communication, coaching, and field interaction.
  • Monitor driver performance, safety trends, telematics data, and key safety metrics.
  • Develop and maintain practical safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Maintain accurate compliance, incident, and safety documentation.
  • Partner closely with operations and leadership to reduce risk and improve fleet performance.
  • Participate in recurring safety meetings and training initiatives.
  • Travel regularly to support drivers and transportation operations across multiple locations.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of trucking or transportation safety management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience conducting accident and incident investigations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with professional drivers and operations teams.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, and common business software.
  • Ability to travel regularly with convenient access to a regional or major airport.
  • Transportation telematics experience preferred.
  • Experience working with insurance companies or transportation claims preferred.
