Director Perioperative Services

 

About the opportunity
This is a senior nursing leadership role with full administrative and clinical accountability for perioperative services, including operating room services and related departments, within a large health system in Southern California. Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, the Director sets the direction for quality outcomes, operational performance, and the professional practice environment across perioperative units on a 24-hour basis. In the CNO's absence, the Director may assume authority over nursing department activities system-wide.

What you'll do
• Provide executive-level leadership, direction, and mentoring to managers across perioperative services, fostering collaborative practice, professional growth, and a healthy work environment
• Assume full service line accountability for business planning, operational outcomes, and performance of the operating room and related perioperative departments
• Develop, monitor, and analyze labor, operating, and capital expense budgets; ensure economic performance reflects the budget plan and that human and material resources are appropriately allocated
• Lead quality and performance improvement initiatives, collecting and analyzing data to identify opportunities, implement changes, and drive measurable improvement in clinical outcomes
• Ensure compliance with JCAHO, Title 22, and other applicable regulatory standards; oversee annual skill validation and proficiency for clinical staff
• Collaborate with the CNO, medical staff, medical directors, and interdisciplinary teams to align service line goals with organizational priorities and ensure patient needs are identified and met
• Develop strategies to achieve patient satisfaction goals and integrate ethical provisions and the ANA Nursing Administration Scope and Standards of Practice across all areas of practice

 

Top requirements
• Master's Degree in Nursing, or a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing combined with a Master's Degree in a relevant field of management, policy, or administration
• Active California Registered Nurse license
• Minimum 10 years of nursing experience, with at least 3 years in nursing administration or leadership at the manager level or above

 

Education
• Master's Degree in Nursing, or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Master's Degree in a relevant field of management, policy, or administration (required)

 

Experience
• 10 or more years of nursing experience (required)
• 3 or more years of nursing leadership or administration at the manager level or above (required)

 

Licensure and certifications
• Active California RN license, or compact license recognized in California, required upon hire

 

Compensation
Up to $280,000 DOE, and negotiable based on experience.
