Director Surgical Services

A large acute care hospital is seeking a Director of Surgical Services to provide executive-level leadership for a high-volume surgical services program. This role oversees clinical operations, strategic growth, and team development while partnering with hospital leadership and physicians to support safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care.

Responsibilities

Provide overall operational and clinical leadership for Surgical Services, including the Operating Room, CVOR, Endoscopy, Sterile Processing, Anesthesia Technicians, and OR Environmental Services.

Lead and support department managers while overseeing daily operations, staffing, productivity, and performance initiatives.

Drive evidence-based clinical practices to enhance patient safety, quality outcomes, and operational effectiveness.

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.

Manage surgical volume forecasting, patient throughput, and workflow optimization within a high-volume surgical environment.

Collaborate with physicians and administrative leaders to maintain and expand surgical service lines.

Oversee budget planning, financial performance, labor management, and supply and equipment cost control.

Develop and mentor teams through coaching, professional growth, engagement strategies, and talent development.

Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across Surgical Services.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.

Master's Degree preferred.

1+ years of recent acute care Director of Surgical Services experience required.

3+ years applicable experience in acute care Surgical Services required.

Full-time, days, no weekends.
