What You'll Do

As our Dishwasher / Busser, you'll play an important role in keeping The Original Home Run Inn running smoothly. You'll help maintain a clean, organized restaurant, keep dishes and equipment moving, and support our servers and kitchen team throughout the shift.

You'll work both behind the scenes and throughout the restaurant to help make sure our guests have a clean, comfortable, and welcoming experience.

No two shifts look exactly the same, and that's part of the fun.

You'll Spend Your Time

Keeping the dining room guest-ready

• Promptly clear tables after guests finish dining
• Wipe down and reset tables with proper place settings
• Help ensure guests are seated at clean, properly set tables quickly
• Refill water glasses and assist servers with food and beverage delivery when needed
• Assist with bringing out food or carrying trays during busy times
• Stock service stations with napkins, utensils, glassware, and other supplies
• Sweep and maintain cleanliness in guest areas
• Remove trash and keep bussing stations neat and organized
• Thank guests as they are leaving and assist with guest requests

Keeping dishes and equipment moving

• Load, run, and unload the dish machine
• Keep the dish machine clean and report any functional or mechanical problems immediately
• Monitor dish machine water temperature to ensure a sanitary wash cycle
• Handle tableware carefully to prevent breakage and loss
• Maintain adequate levels of clean tableware for the dining room and kitchen
• Keep the dish room and storage areas clean and organized
• Bag and haul dish-room trash to the dumpster at designated times
• Assist with cleaning cooking equipment, including ovens, grills, fryers, coolers, and other equipment

Keeping the restaurant clean and organized

• Clean food preparation and production areas as required
• Sweep, mop, and clean walls and other areas as needed
• Maintain a safe and clean environment throughout the restaurant
• Understand and safely use cleaning and sanitation chemicals
• Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned
• Follow all workplace health and safety requirements

Supporting the team

• Communicate effectively with servers, hosts, kitchen teammates, and management
• Help maintain an efficient service flow during busy periods
• Maintain a positive attitude and assist in all areas of the restaurant when needed
• Jump in wherever the team needs support
• Perform other related duties as assigned

The original job descriptions identify both table-service support and dish-room responsibilities, including bussing, restocking, dishwashing, equipment cleaning, and maintaining clean guest and production areas.

What You'll Bring

• Must be at least 16 years old
• Ability to lift, reach, bend, and stoop throughout the shift
• Ability to stand for extended periods, up to approximately 5 hours
• Ability to work in a hot, wet, humid, and loud environment for extended periods
• Working knowledge of the predominant language of our guests
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Food Handler certification required within 30 days of hire
• Safety shoes required within 30 days of hire
• Ability to safely handle cleaning and sanitation chemicals
• A willingness to assist in all areas of the restaurant

These qualifications are drawn from the existing Busser and Dishwasher descriptions, including the physical requirements, flexible scheduling, Food Handler certification, safety shoes, and ability to work in a hot, wet, humid, and sometimes loud environment.
