District Landman

Purple Land Management (PLM) is one of the fastest-growing privately held companies in North Texas. PLM serves clients such as energy producers, midstream operators, state and local agencies, engineering firms and mobile service providers in lease negotiation and acquisition, right-of-way acquisition, title services and project management.  PLM has ten office locations across the country, with the headquarters located in downtown Fort Worth.

The primary job function of a District Landman is to analyze complex title chains, statutes, regulations, and oil and gas production data to determine accurate oil and gas mineral and royalty ownership and/or identify significant issues with land ownership. Based on his or her research and analysis, the District Landman must possess the ability to make recommendations to an oil and gas operator, real estate company, utility, or other PLM client, on how to best develop their real property based on the goal of the client.   The District Landman will ultimately determine if a parcel of real property is subject to a lease, identify any and all owners (and share/proportion of ownership), and execute a strategy, developed by a Project Manager, that allows a client to use, or not use, real property in the manner desired and stated in a Work Order.  A District Landman is also responsible for ensuring that contract vendors submit high quality work and approving or denying vendor’s invoice based on the quantity and quality of work product.

• Review and analyze complex title chains to determine surface, mineral, and royalty ownership shares for a given tract of real property and sign off on ownership
• Identify any burdens or title defects that may halt the development of property in the manner required by the client
• Identify any necessary curative action, based on analysis of title documents, and successfully execute any necessary affidavits, contracts, or amendments to ensure that a client’s use of land is in accordance with applicable statutes and regulations
• Communicate real property issues, positive or negative, to the Project Manager in a timely, effective manner
• Approve or deny invoices submitted by contract field vendors and assess vendor output against their billings
• Negotiate easements, oil and gas leases, surface use agreements, or other contracts on behalf of PLM’s client at the best possible market rate
• Performs other related duties as assigned

• Minimum three (2) years of oil & gas experience as a land professional
• Bachelor’s degree in Energy Management, Land Management, Energy Commerce strongly preferred
• Will consider law degree (J.D), or degree in Environmental Sciences, Geology, Petroleum Engineering, or related field or field experience in land as alternative
• AAPL Membership Required, RL & RPL Certification Preferred
