Divisional Director of Clinical Pharmacy

Job Summary:

The Division Director of Clinical Pharmacy is responsible for clinical pharmacy activities at all HCA facilities within the Division ( 5 hosp in CA and 3 in NV)   Position will be based in Southern CA. Position will include but not limited to:  Clinical initiatives that impact drug utilization, clinical education and staff development, management of appropriate drug utilization, drug spend analysis, and quality improvement activities. 
 
Develop and oversee standardized clinical pharmacy programs for division/facilities in the western market
Provides guidance to facilities regarding JCHAO, CMS, NQSF and FDA standards
Assists in preparation of annual facility clinical intervention savings budgets.
Develops annual clinical pharmacy business plan in conjunction with clinical pharmacy group that ensures positive patient outcomes and appropriate drug utilization.  Ensures pharmacy departments are meeting market share goals
Oversee Clinical Pharmacy subcommittees
Assist in division formulary development through review of primary literature
Analyze drug spend trends to identify areas of opportunity and implement appropriate use/development    of protocols and guidelines
Provides supporting documentation, "white papers" or other information needed to facilitate P&T Committee preparation
Facilitates education and support at HCA facilities regarding clinical pharmacy responsibilities, clinical protocol justification, execution and implementation.  Provides education though HCA educational support activities.
Prepare Key Performance Indicator report and other clinical intervention analyses
Assists in development of "best practice" recommendations for clinical procedures
Maintain effective communication with facility directors and leadership teams on clinical initiatives and facility and division results
Assist in preparation and implementation of facility policy and procedures as needed
Facilitates creation of a Division education program for pharmacy and CSC staff to promote improved patient care.  Investigate development of residency and clinical internship programs.
Perform other duties as assigned by the DDOP

Must hold a CA license
B.S. in Pharmacy required; Pharm.D., MBA, Residency,  BCPS or MS, preferred 
More than 5 years pharmacy utilization and/ or director level operation's experience required.
