Position Summary


We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety leader to oversee EHS initiatives across multiple regions and project sites within construction and MEP operations. This role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, enhancing safety performance, and fostering a culture focused on risk reduction and continuous improvement.


This position combines strategic leadership with hands-on involvement and requires up to 60% nationwide travel.


Key Responsibilities


Leadership & Culture



  • Provide direction and mentorship to EHS Managers, Coordinators, and field personnel across multiple regions

  • Drive a proactive safety culture focused on accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement

  • Serve as the primary EHS resource for regional leadership and project teams


Program Management



  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs, policies, and procedures

  • Ensure consistent application of safety plans, hazard assessments, and risk mitigation strategies across all projects

  • Oversee safety planning for MEP and industrial construction activities


Regulatory Compliance



  • Monitor compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and client-specific requirements

  • Conduct audits, inspections, and compliance reviews; ensure timely resolution of findings

  • Manage regulatory documentation, including OSHA logs, environmental reporting, and compliance records


Incident Management



  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses

  • Implement corrective actions and ensure lessons learned are communicated across teams

  • Track safety metrics and KPIs to drive performance improvements


Training & Development



  • Oversee safety training programs to ensure workforce competency and compliance

  • Mentor EHS staff and support their professional development

  • Promote certification attainment and continuing education


Contractor Oversight



  • Evaluate subcontractor safety performance and ensure compliance with company standards

  • Review safety plans, training records, and prequalification documentation

  • Enforce accountability across multi-employer job sites


Reporting & Strategy



  • Prepare performance reports, dashboards, and metrics for executive leadership

  • Support strategic planning and budgeting efforts related to EHS initiatives

  • Serve as a liaison with clients, regulators, and external auditors


Risk Management



  • Guide risk assessments, hazard analyses, and planning for high-risk activities

  • Ensure safety considerations are integrated into project design, planning, and commissioning


Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field

  • 10+ years of progressive EHS experience in construction, industrial, or MEP environments

  • 5+ years of experience leading EHS teams across multiple projects or regions

  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and DOT regulations

  • Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards

  • Proven success in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation

  • Familiarity with contractor management and multi-employer job site oversight

  • Experience with safety management systems, reporting tools, and KPI tracking

  • Strong communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly


Preferred Credentials



  • Professional certifications such as CSP, CHST, ASP, CSHO, OHST, or STS

  • OSHA 510 and OSHA 501 certifications

  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification (required)

  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain)

  • Experience driving company-wide safety culture initiatives
