Minimum Qualifications:



  • One (1) year of paid work experience in the maintenance and repair of buildings, plumbing, electrical, or mechanical equipment. Vocational/technical training in mechanical repair or one of the building trades can substitute at the rate of 360 classroom hours for one year of experience.

  • Experience with repair and maintenance procedures and methods

  • Skilled in the proper use of maintenance tools and products

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Able to work Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and occasionally weekend and after hours as needed.

  • Resume and cover letter detailing relevant experience

Duties and Responsibilities:



  • As part of the maintenance staff, assists in making repairs to buildings, facilities, and grounds.

  • As part of the maintenance staff, assists in maintaining sitewide plumbing, heating, electrical, and security systems. 

  • Support day-to-day museum operations.

  • Assist with preparing the site for extreme weather and helping clean up after extreme weather.

  • Assist with other Department of State activities or initiatives as needed


 


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:



  • Excellent oral and written communications skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to work in spaces and with objects that might be dirty or dusty

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions

  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time

  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, reach, stretch, and/or twist

  • Ability to lift, move, carry, and/or push items weighing up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to understand and follow established procedures and policies

  • Ability to be on-call, occasionally working nights, weekends and holidays.
