The Delivery & Logistics Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of products, materials, equipment, and other authorized items between company locations, suppliers, warehouses, and customers. This position coordinates with dispatch, warehouse, logistics, and customer service teams to ensure accurate deliveries, proper documentation, cargo security, and efficient route execution.
Safely transport products, materials, equipment, and other authorized cargo to designated locations.
Complete scheduled deliveries and pickups accurately and within established delivery windows.
Follow assigned routes while using GPS, navigation, and routing systems to optimize travel time and efficiency.
Coordinate with dispatchers regarding routes, delivery schedules, traffic conditions, delays, and changes in assignments.
Verify delivery orders, manifests, invoices, packing slips, bills of lading, and other transportation documents.
Confirm quantities, product descriptions, delivery addresses, and customer information before completing deliveries.
Load, unload, organize, and properly secure cargo according to company procedures.
Inspect cargo and packaging for visible damage before departure and upon delivery.
Obtain customer signatures, electronic confirmations, photographs, or other required proof of delivery.
Report damaged, missing, incorrect, or short-shipped items to the appropriate department.
Communicate delivery status and exceptions to dispatch, logistics, warehouse, and customer service teams.
Maintain accurate records of deliveries, pickups, mileage, fuel, vehicle inspections, and transportation activities.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report mechanical or safety concerns.
Maintain assigned vehicle in a clean, safe, and operational condition.
Refuel vehicles and perform basic vehicle checks as required.
Follow all applicable transportation laws, traffic regulations, company safety policies, and cargo-handling procedures.
Maintain required driver's license, certifications, permits, and vehicle documentation.
Secure vehicles and cargo appropriately during stops, deliveries, and overnight parking when applicable.
Assist warehouse or logistics personnel with loading and unloading activities when required.
Coordinate returns, exchanges, rejected deliveries, and pickup requests.
Support reverse logistics activities, including the return of products, packaging, equipment, or damaged goods.
Assist with urgent, scheduled, and special delivery requests as assigned.
Maintain professional and courteous communication with customers, vendors, warehouse staff, and other stakeholders.
Use mobile applications, electronic proof-of-delivery systems, fleet-management software, and other logistics technology.
Report accidents, traffic incidents, delivery failures, delays, vehicle problems, and other operational issues promptly.
Protect customer property, company assets, cargo, documents, and confidential information.
Participate in driver safety training and logistics process improvement activities.
Identify opportunities to improve delivery routes, scheduling, vehicle utilization, and overall transportation efficiency.
Valid driver's license appropriate for the assigned vehicle.
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) where required.
1–3 years of experience in delivery, logistics, transportation, courier services, or commercial driving preferred.
Good knowledge of local and regional roads and transportation routes.
Strong understanding of safe driving and cargo-handling practices.
Ability to safely load, unload, secure, and transport goods.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Strong time-management and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple delivery assignments.
Ability to use GPS, mobile devices, electronic delivery systems, and basic transportation technology.
Ability to meet delivery schedules while maintaining safety and accuracy.
CDL Class A or Class B, depending on the assigned vehicle.
Experience with delivery management or fleet-management systems.
Experience using electronic proof-of-delivery systems.
Experience with route optimization and transportation management systems (TMS).
Experience with warehouse, distribution, freight, or supply-chain operations.
Knowledge of cargo securement and transportation regulations.
Defensive driving certification or professional driver training.
Experience handling customer returns, exchanges, and reverse logistics.
