The Staten Island Workforce1 Career Center is partnering with The Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services to find qualified candidates for a Direct Support Professional in Staten Island, New York. Position Overview






The Direct Support Professional works in a residential treatment setting to support individuals in developing daily living and independent living skills. This role is responsible for implementing portions of treatment plans related to daily routines while ensuring the health and safety of clients. Acting as a positive role model, the position provides direct care, supervision, and therapeutic support. The Direct Support Professional also helps create a safe, structured, and supportive environment that promotes independence and well-being.

 

This position is located in Staten Island, New York.









Key Responsibilities






  • Provide direct support and assistance to individuals with intellectual, developmental, and/or physical disabilities.
  • Assist with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, meal preparation, and medication reminders.
  • Promote independence, community inclusion, and achievement of individual goals.
  • Implement and follow individualized service plans and behavioral support plans.
  • Monitor and document client progress, activities, and any significant changes in condition or behavior.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment.
  • Transport individuals to appointments, community activities, and other scheduled events as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, supervisors, and team members.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and crisis situations according to agency policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all organizational, state, and federal regulations.








Requirements






  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Compassion, patience, and commitment to supporting individuals with diverse needs.
  • Ability to lift, transfer, and assist individuals as required by the position.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and record-keeping.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire.
  • Previous experience in caregiving, human services, healthcare, or related fields is preferred but not required.








Pay Range






USD $18.00 - USD $18.00 /Hr.
