This position will float among the Anoka, Coon Rapids, and Crystal programs as needed. Scheduled hours of work will vary between 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM, and 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, depending on the program's needs.

Position Summary

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) works directly with people with disabilities in a center-based setting, assisting them with personal care and projects as needed. Assist and mentor DSP levels 1 and 2 in training as needed 

Responsibilities

• Communication – Speak clearly; listen to others; write effectively; establish relationships; act with integrity; establish trust 
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with team members  
• Ensures compliance with all applicable legal requirements and accreditation standards. Ensures that all department activities are conducted in a manner that is consistent with Rise’s Code of Conduct, CARF standards, and HIPAA policies and procedures. 
• Model appropriate behavior and interactions 
• Assist with lifting and transferring adults to/from wheelchairs and assist with personal care 
• Continually inspire personal growth in the people you support by establishing and achieving personal goals and implementing person-centered practices 
• Design innovative community integration activities (volunteering, outdoor, social) and support persons served on these community outings 
• Provide transportation of persons supported in Rise’ vans and buses as needed 

Float Requirements: 

• Provide case management support as necessary
• Lead programming room
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with team members at assigned locations while working as a float DSP (Direct Support Professional) 
• Maintain medication administration certification 
• Seamlessly fill in at multiple sites, some of which have persons served with high needs. 
• Maintains a high level of flexibility and accepts a fluid work schedule to meet program needs.
• Assist and mentor DSP levels 1 and 2 in training as needed

• Technology skills: Comfortable working with computers, Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Teams, etc.). and database management systems – Learn software systems to complete routine tasks.   
• Current, valid driver’s license and a driving record that demonstrates safe, legal driving habits  
• Compliance with DHS (Department of Human Services) Rule 11 and Rise MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) background checks required  
• Reliable work attendance 
• Ability to work well with others AA degree in human service field preferred or, one year experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
• Physical demands include the ability to twist, stoop, bend, reach, pull, push, stand, and walk for up to eight hours a day. Ability to lift and transfer persons served with varying weights (50-75 pounds).
• Applicants must comply with and pass the Department of Human Services background check (Rule 11)
• Applicants must have a valid driver's license
• Must be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check

Wage: $21.01 - $22.06 per hour, depending on qualifications
