E H S Spec III

Geneva EHS Specialist III will provide full-time environmental health and safety support to the operations, ensuring compliance with local, state and federal regulatory requirements across the Ruskin Geneva, AL manufacturing plant under the Air Control Solutions (ACS) Business Unit. This position will directly report to the Geneva EHS Manager and will assist in ensuring regulatory compliance, managing permits, EHS program maturity, and development of a strong safety culture.

This position must inspire and motivate all levels across the Geneva, AL plant to embrace our EHS Zero Harm – ‘Beyond Zero’ vision.

How you will do it:

• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and ADTi EHS management systems.


• Possess knowledge and skills of Lean Manufacturing & Safety Kaizens, to lead the way to EHS Zero Harm – ‘Beyond Zero’ vision.


• Support the Safety Culture Transformation campaign across all departments and functions.


• Assist with maintaining the EHS Playbook Scorecard leading indicator performance and sustainability.


• Supports the maintenance of regulatory compliance programs (EPA, OSHA, DOT, DHS, DEA, NEC, NFPA, and others).


• Aids in the review and implementation of all permits and reporting requirements.


• Support the activities associated with the EHS Risk Accountability & Mapping Program (RAMP) to proactively reduce risk levels.


• Perform EHS layered audits/Gembas. Drives action closure from Gembas and Layered Audits prevent injuries/illness.


• Implements an incident investigation & root cause analysis process based upon a team approach. Coordinates the preparation of investigation materials and evidence for the site to use in the internal safety alert/knowledge sharing communications.


• Engages the entire work force both salary and hourly to drive cultural change and accomplishing safety performance objectives and targets.


• Assists with maintaining the plant’s EHS training program focusing on a risk-based approach. Including supporting HR in the new hire orientation with the EHS portion.


• Performs and coordinates job hazard analysis and ergonomic risk assessments and creating action plans to reduce risk.


• Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential EHS risks/hazards, focusing on ADTI’s Critical EHS Programs (LOTO, Machine Guarding, Electrical, Cranes & Hoists, Confined Spaces, PIV/Dock Safety, Working at Height).


• Review existing EHS Zero Harm Coaching & Engagement program based upon the Corporate EHS policy and aids in continuous improvement opportunities.


• Performs and ensures compliance with industrial hygiene testing and other requirements.


• Reviews planned changes and new equipment installations prior to receipt. Approves or recommends changes in manufacturing and engineering matters of plant layout, location/relocation of machinery, equipment, facilities, safety designs, and processes.


• Supports the plant’s Non-Routine Risk Assessment process.


• Coordinates air emission, wastewater, storm water, and waste testing.


• Performs waste characterization & profiling and coordinates disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.


• Identifies opportunities to minimize waste streams, reduce costs, and implement solutions.


• Identifies opportunities to improve air emission controls and implements solutions.


• Lead the Safety Committee and manage Team-Based Risk Assessments.


• Lead the Emergency Response Team and ensure compliance with all company policies.


• Support the Site Preparedness and Emergency Plans & Procedures.

What we look for:

• Bachelor’s degree in either Environmental Management, Safety Management, a related field, or work equivalent.


• Minimum of two (2) years of EHS experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.


• Proficient using Microsoft Applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, etc.


• Interpersonal characteristics reflecting uncompromising integrity, results orientation, a collaborative style, a commitment to talent development, and a highly positive attitude.


• Ability to multi-task, be detail oriented, accurate, analytical and act with a sense of urgency when needed.


• Strong problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills, and teamwork oriented.


• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, include the ability to professionally communicate with a wide variety of individuals, respond to inquiries, and provide feedback in a timely manner.


• Ability to foster solid relationships within the facility.

Preferred:

• Working knowledge and experience with SafeStart, STOP or other behavior-based safety programs.


• Certified Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or other relevant certification.


• Working knowledge and experience with LEAN manufacturing / Six Sigma techniques.
