Job Description - Early Childhood Teacher

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR (Ages 18 Months–5 Years)
Temple Shalom Nursery School (TSNS)

ABOUT US
Temple Shalom Nursery School (TSNS) is a play-based, nature-rich early childhood program serving children ages 18 months to 5 years. Rooted in Jewish values—community, kindness, respect, curiosity, and justice—we create a warm, inclusive environment where children, families, and educators thrive.

Outdoor learning in all seasons
Nature-based exploration (gardening, plants, animals)
Child-led, play-based curriculum
Strong, collaborative teaching teams

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking enthusiastic Early Childhood Educators who are:

Creative and open to innovative, play-based learning
Curious about child development and emergent curriculum
Energized by outdoor, nature-based education
Strong collaborators who value teamwork and reflection

This is an ideal role for educators who want to grow professionally while making meaningful impact in a supportive school community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Create a nurturing, engaging classroom environment
Support children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development
Facilitate play-based and outdoor learning experiences
Collaborate with co-teachers and leadership
Communicate effectively with families
Maintain a safe, organized, and joyful classroom

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in early childhood education (ECE) preferred
Knowledge of play-based or Reggio-inspired approaches a plus
Comfort working outdoors in all weather
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Jewish knowledge/experience is a plus, but not required

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

$24–$29/hour, based on experience
Paid school breaks (December, February, April)
Paid Jewish holidays
Summer schedule: 8-week program + August break
