EHS Manager

The Geneva EHS Manager will lead all EHS programs and activities across the Ruskin Geneva, AL manufacturing plan under the Air Controls Solutions (ACS) Business Unit. This position is responsible for the environmental, health & safety program maturity, ensures regulatory compliance, and proactively creates an accident-free work environment for the organization.

This position must inspire and motivate all levels across the Geneva, AL plant to embrace our EHS Zero Harm – ‘Beyond Zero’ vision.

How you will do it:

• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and ADTi EHS management systems.


• Possess knowledge and skills of Lean Manufacturing & Safety Kaizens, to lead the way to EHS Zero Harm – ‘Beyond Zero’ vision.


• Support the Safety Culture Transformation campaign across all departments and functions.


• Drive EHS Playbook Scorecard leading indicator performance and sustainability.


• Evaluate and analyze key performance indicators to determine trends and the need for modifications or development of EHS policies, procedures, and standards.


• Leads the ongoing development and maintenance of regulatory compliance programs (EPA, OSHA, DOT, DHS, DEA, NEC, NFPA, and others).


• Review and ensure implementation of all permits and reporting requirements.


• Support the activities associated with the EHS Risk Accountability & Mapping Program (RAMP) to proactively reduce risk levels.


• Liaise with other department heads to ensure that all business operations are in line with the EHS policies.


• Perform EHS layered audits/Gembas. Drives action closure from Gembas and Layered Audits prevent injuries/illness.


• Implements an incident investigation process based upon a team approach. Coordinates the preparation of investigation materials and evidence for the site to use in the internal safety alert/knowledge sharing communications, hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.


• Engages, implements, and effectively communicates to plant employees and the leadership staff safety best business practices and how their activities impact safety performance.


• Engages the entire work force both salary and hourly to drive cultural change and accomplishing safety performance objectives and targets.


• Develops and implements motivational and incentive programs that promote a high degree of safe behavior awareness and enthusiasm.


• Responsible for establishing site wide EHS training program focusing on a risk-based approach. Including supporting HR in the new hire orientation with the EHS portion.


• Performs and coordinates job hazard analysis and ergonomic risk assessments and creating action plans to reduce risk.


• Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential EHS risks/hazards, focusing on ADTI’s Critical EHS Programs (LOTO, Machine Guarding, Electrical, Cranes & Hoists, Confined Spaces, PIV/Dock Safety, Working at Height). Develops risk/hazard prioritization plan, determines corrective or preventative measures, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.


• Review existing EHS Zero Harm Coaching & Engagement program based upon the Corporate EHS policy and build a plan to drive improvement.


• Assess the existence of a Safety Committee for employees. Build a plan to enhance this program and share with site Leadership teams regularly.


• Performs and ensures compliance with industrial hygiene testing and other requirements.


• Reviews planned changes and new equipment installations prior to receipt. Approves or recommends changes in manufacturing and engineering matters of plant layout, location/relocation of machinery, equipment, facilities, safety designs, and processes.


• Develops and rolls out a Maintenance Non-Routine Risk Assessment process.


• Manages workers’ compensation and reduce costs by working closely with insurance carriers, ADTI Workers’ Compensation Subject Matter Expert (SME), attorneys, and state authorities, along with in-house supervisors and managers. Manages each claim from the accident report to the return of the worker for modified duty and ultimately to claim closure.


• Manages property risk by insuring compliance with FM Global assessments and routinely touring the property and conducting inspections to ensure compliance.


• Coordinates air emission, wastewater, storm water, and waste testing.


• Performs waste characterization & profiling and coordinates disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.


• Identifies opportunities to minimize waste streams, reduce costs, and implement solutions.


• Identifies opportunities to improve air emission controls and implements solutions.

What we look for:

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management, Safety Management, or a related field.


• Minimum of eight (8) years of EHS experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.


• Strong project management and project planning experience.


• Experience with risk management and assessment.


• Proficient using Microsoft Applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, etc.


• High-level leadership skills, as well as interpersonal characteristics reflecting uncompromising integrity, results orientation, a collaborative style, a commitment to talent development, and a highly positive attitude.


• Strong technical skills and experience in OSHA and EPA Programs.


• Ability to multi-task, be detail oriented, accurate, analytical and act with a sense of urgency when needed.


• Strong problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills, and teamwork oriented.


• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, include the ability to professionally communicate with a wide variety of individuals, respond to inquiries, and provide feedback in a timely manner.


• Ability to foster solid relationships within the facility while achieving key operating objectives as it relates to environmental, health and safety.

Preferred:

• Working knowledge and experience with SafeStart, STOP or other behavior-based safety programs.


• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant certification.


• Working knowledge and experience with LEAN manufacturing / Six Sigma techniques.
