Job Description - EHS Specialist


Are you a proactive safety professional ready to make a tangible impact on culture and compliance? We are seeking an EHS Specialist to partner with plant leadership and champion a culture of safety, health, and environmental excellence at our manufacturing facility. In this role, you won't just check boxes—you will actively collaborate across all departments to build trust, eliminate hazards, and drive continuous improvement.

Culture & Leadership: Partner with management to co-own plant-level health, safety, and environmental initiatives.Hazard
Mitigation: Conduct routine inspections, lead Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and manage PPE programs to ensure a zero-harm workplace.
Incident Management: Lead root-cause investigations for incidents and near-misses, implementing swift mitigation strategies.
Compliance & Audits: Oversee environmental permits and reporting (SWPPP, hazardous waste, air/wastewater) while ensuring OSHA and NFPA compliance.
Training & Onboarding: Design and deliver engaging safety training (including onboarding, forklift certification, and respirator fit-tests) and track completion metrics.
Continuous Improvement: Participate in manufacturing improvement committees and cost-control efforts to optimize plant efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent manufacturing experience).
  • Proven background in a manufacturing environment with thorough knowledge of OSHA and NFPA standards.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and persuasive skills to build trust across all levels of the organization.
  • A confident self-starter who thrives both independently and within collaborative teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and possesses a basic understanding of standard accounting principles (Income Statements, Balance Sheets).
