EHS Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking an EHS Technician to support environmental, health, safety, and industrial hygiene programs at a manufacturing facility. This role will help maintain a safe and healthy workplace, support regulatory compliance, conduct audits and training, and assist with environmental and safety programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with accident and incident investigations.
• Conduct regular EHS inspections, audits, and facility safety tours.
• Identify safety, environmental, and health hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain EHS records, databases, files, and reports.
• Support the plant safety committee and EHS training programs.
• Conduct safety and environmental training, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
• Assist with hazardous waste management, pickups, disposal, and shipments.
• Monitor contractor compliance with applicable EHS requirements.
• Support fire protection system maintenance.
• Assist with environmental permits, reporting, recycling, and compliance programs.
• Conduct ergonomic evaluations and assessments.
• Review equipment and process changes for potential EHS concerns.
• Stay current with applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Work with management, supervisors, contractors, and Division EHS to maintain a safe workplace.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–3 years of EHS experience or 2–3 years of experience with Abbott.
• Knowledge of applicable EHS regulations and standards, including OSHA, MIOSHA, DOT, EPA, and MDEQ.
• Strong computer skills and experience with spreadsheets.
• Good communication, organization, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work with employees, contractors, visitors, and management.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background with a Fire Department or Rescue Squad.
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Knowledge of industrial hygiene, environmental compliance, and workplace safety programs.
