Job Description - Electrical Engineer, Entry level


As a leading global aesthetics device company with a comprehensive product portfolio and a global distribution footprint, our client is a fast-paced, high-tech medical device company looking for the right person to help grow our business.

 

The Company’s technology enables physicians to provide advanced solutions for a broad range of medical aesthetic applications including improving the skin’s appearance through the treatment of superficial benign vascular and pigmented lesions, unwanted hair removal, improvement in skin laxity and wrinkles, and body contouring and sculpting.

 

Founded in 1998, the corporate, R&D, and manufacturing headquarters for the Company are located in the San Francisco Bay Area, and they are proud to manufacture all of its systems and accessories at its California headquarters. It has direct global operations in North America, Japan, Australia, and several European countries, and its products are distributed in over 40 countries.

 

Position Summary:

As part of the R&D team, you will contribute in the development of existing and new medical technologies and applications. Working with other engineers, you will have direct impact on future devices and therefore will influence the future of medical and aesthetic dermatology.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Be a key member of a fast-paced engineering team changing the landscape of medical aesthetics.

  • Determine scope and schedule within department goals.

  • Design and test firmware and electronics for lasers and RF devices.

  • Assist in schematic capture and PCB layout of all electronics.

  • Design and test PID controllers for temperature and current regulation.

  • Be a part of system design, integration, and verification testing.

  • Assist with the transition of new products from design to production.

  • Assist in electrical safety and EMC testing.

  • Develop test plans for component and system level verification.

  • Work closely with a group of embedded software engineers on system implementation.

  • Troubleshoot and perform failure analysis on existing/new electronic designs.

  • Support designs for high-voltage and high-current power supply designs.






Requirements


Position Requirements:



  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in electrical engineering, New Grads Encouraged to apply!

  • PCB design for semi-complex product that includes firmware (Internship, project or commercially).

  • Experience in schematic capture and PCB layout tools, preferably Altium Designer.

  • Knowledge of Analog and Digital design.

  • Systems and circuit board level debugging, testing, and documentation fundamentals.

  • Experience in systems level design, integration, and debug for electronic devices, medical device is bonus.

  • Proactive and independent about solving problems and communicating status.

  • Understanding of EMI, radiated emissions, and mitigation techniques.

  • Ability to work with other electrical, mechanical, optical, software engineers and scientists to develop new products.

  • Experience with IEC 60601-1, EMC, ISO 14971, and regulatory compliance process bonus.

  • The products contain high voltage electronics, control circuits, electro-mechanical devices, electro-optics and instrumentation. Candidate to be familiar and willing to quickly pick up those aspects of device design.









Desired Skills:



  • Basic understanding of logic design, FPGA implementation, and Verilog.

  • Experience in driving diode pumped solid-state and flash-lamp pumped lasers very helpful.

  • Working knowledge of high-voltage, high-current power supply designs for flash-lamps and laser diodes bonus.

  • Comfortable with simulation and automation tools such as LTspice, Matlab, Labview, FPGA test bench.

  • Knowledge of risk management.
