Come be a part of our mission!\n\nNorthrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an Electromagnetic Engineer Lead Level 3 or 4 to support the development and ongoing support of world-class US Navy machinery (turbines, generators, motors, and other system components based out of Sunnyvale, CA. In this role, you will play a critical part in the development and management of turbine generators (EMFEA Analysis, design schematics of a generator, acing as a liaison for contractors), and mitigation strategies. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a passion for improving machinery quality and customer satisfaction. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to diagnose, analyze, and mitigate NVH issues, ensuring our machinery meet the most challenging standards.\n\nWhat You\u2019ll get to Do:\n\n * Lead electromagnetic design integration for turbine-generator system.\n\n * Serve as the primary technical point of contact with suppliers for electromagnetic topics.\n\n * Review and validate supplier electromagnetic deliverables including: EMFEA models, Design parameters, and Equivalent circuit parameters.\n\n * Ensure supplier outputs are useable for downstream system analysis.\n\n\n\n\nThis requisition may be filled at an Electromagnetic Engineer Lead Level 3 or an Electromagnetic Engineer Lead Level 4 based on the qualifications listed below: \n\nBasic Qualifications for Electromagnetic Engineer Lead Level 3:\n\n * Bachelor\u0027s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 5 years relevant work experience; or Master\u2019s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 3 years of relevant work experience.\n\n * Understanding of turbine-generator systems and rotating machinery.\n\n * Strong foundation in electromagnetic theory.\n\n * Experience receiving information from external vendors and effectively communicating information to internal teams.\n\n * Proficiency with EMFEA tools such as Ansys Maxwell and Altair Flux2D.\n\n * Must be a US citizen.\n\n * Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.\n\n\n\n\nBasic Qualifications for Electromagnetic Engineer Lead Level 4:\n\n * Bachelor\u0027s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 8 years relevant work experience; or Master\u2019s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 6 years of relevant work experience.\n\n * Understanding of turbine-generator systems and rotating machinery.\n\n * Strong foundation in electromagnetic theory.\n\n * Experience receiving information from external vendors and effectively communicating information to internal teams.\n\n * Proficiency with EMFEA tools such as Ansys Maxwell and Altair Flux2D.\n\n * Must be a US citizen.\n\n * Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.\n\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n * Ability to connect EM behavior to: Structural dynamics and vibration, Acoustics performance, and Thermal considerations.\n\n * Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.\n\n * Experience working with external vendor or suppliers.\n\n * Critically review external analysis and models.\n\n * Bridge gaps between supplier output and internal needs.\n\n * Lead experience with technical discussions and discrepancy resolution.\n\n * Ability to operate in fast-paced and multi-tasking environments.\n\n * Effective collaborator across internal and external suppliers.\n\n * Power electronics experience.\n\n\n\n\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00\n\nSecondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00\n\nThe above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate\u0027s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.\n\nDepending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
