Hardware Engineer II Onsite : Sterling, VA We are seeking a hands-on Hardware Engineer II to design, develop, test, and validate embedded electronic hardware for industrial and high-performance systems. The ideal candidate will have practical experience in schematic design, PCB layout, FPGA/DSP hardware integration, prototype bring-up, debugging, and laboratory testing. Key Responsibilities
- Design analog, digital, and mixed-signal electronic circuits.
- Create schematics and perform multi-layer PCB layout.
- Design and integrate hardware around FPGA, DSP, MCU, and processor-based platforms.
- Develop clocks, reset, power sequencing, memory, communication, sensing, and protection circuits.
- Design interfaces such as Ethernet, CAN, RS-485, SPI, I2C, UART, USB, ADC/DAC, and similar interfaces.
- Support high-speed routing, differential pairs, controlled impedance, grounding, and power distribution.
- Select components based on performance, reliability, availability, lifecycle, and cost.
- Perform prototype board bring-up, testing, debugging, and validation.
- Troubleshoot board-level issues involving power, clocking, reset, communication, memory, and signal integrity.
- Maintain PCB design files, BOMs, fabrication files, and technical documentation.
- Support PCB fabrication, assembly, qualification, and production release.
- Collaborate with embedded software, FPGA, mechanical, test, and manufacturing teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of relevant experience in electronic hardware and PCB design.
- Experience with analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design.
- Strong hands-on experience with schematic capture and multi-layer PCB layout.
- Experience with FPGA, DSP, MCU, or processor-based hardware.
- Experience with power supply, sensing, protection, and communication circuits.
- Good understanding of grounding, return paths, power planes, differential pairs, and high-speed PCB design practices.
- Hands-on experience with prototype bring-up and laboratory debugging.
- Proficiency with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, power supplies, and standard laboratory equipment.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot board-level hardware issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Altium Designer or similar PCB design tools.
- Experience with AMD/Xilinx, Intel/Altera, Microchip, Lattice, TI C2000, SHARC, or similar platforms.
- Experience with DDR memory and other high-speed digital interfaces.
- Familiarity with signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI/EMC.
- Familiarity with DFM, DFA, component derating, and production support.
- Experience with industrial, automation, control, power, or monitoring products.
