Description

An embroidery operator is responsible for operating and maintaining embroidery machines to create embroidered designs on various types of fabric or materials.

Requirements

 1. Operating embroidery machines: The primary duty of an embroidery operator is to operate computerized embroidery machines. This involves setting up the machine, selecting the appropriate embroidery design, and loading the fabric onto the machine.

 2. Design selection and preparation:  The operator may be involved in selecting the appropriate embroidery design based on customer specifications or requirements. They may also be responsible for preparing the design file and configuring the machine to ensure accurate and precise stitching.

 3. Material preparation: Before starting the embroidery process, the operator must prepare the fabric or material to be embroidered. This may involve hooping the fabric, stabilizing it with backing materials, and positioning it correctly on the machine.

 4. Machine operation and monitoring: Once the fabric is prepared, the operator starts the embroidery machine and monitors its operation. They ensure that the machine is running smoothly, the thread tension is appropriate, and the stitching is accurate.

 5. Thread and color changes: As needed, the operator may change thread colors during the embroidery process to achieve the desired design. They must have knowledge of color matching and blending to maintain consistency and quality in the finished product.

 6. Quality control: Throughout the embroidery process, the operator is responsible for inspecting the embroidered designs for any defects or errors. They must identify and address issues such as thread breaks, misalignment, or skipped stitches to ensure the final product meets quality standards.

 7. Machine maintenance: Embroidery operators are typically responsible for routine machine maintenance, including cleaning, oiling, and performing minor repairs. They may also troubleshoot machine malfunctions or coordinate repairs with maintenance personnel.

 8. Inventory management: Some embroidery operators may be responsible for managing the inventory of embroidery supplies such as threads, backing materials, and needles. They may order or request supplies as needed to ensure uninterrupted production.

 9. Record-keeping: Maintaining production records and documenting completed orders or designs may also be part of an embroidery operator's job. They may need to record details such as design specifications, thread colors, production time, and quantities produced.

 10. Collaboration and communication: Embroidery operators often work in collaboration with designers, customers, or other team members. They may need to communicate design requirements, provide progress updates, or discuss any issues or concerns related to the embroidery process.

 11. Standing for long periods of time, bending, stooping, lifting 50 pounds or more may be required in this position.
