Job Description - Emergency Care Tech - Emergency Department

Part time - 32 hours per week, medical benefit eligible


Reports to:


Director, Emergency Department


Position Supervises:


N/A


Job Summary:


Assists in the safe care of the patient as directed. Assists in maintaining safe and efficient unit operations, utilizing excellent customer service skills. Permitted to change patient from portable O2 to wall O2.


Education


⚬ Minimum:


High School Diploma or equivalent 


⚬ Preferred:


Completion of Phlebotomy Training Course or equivalent training


Registration/Certification/Licensure:


Act 33/73 clearances and Healthcare Provider CPR


Experience


⚬ Minimum:


None.


⚬ Preferred:


Previous experience working as a unit secretary/nursing assistant; experience working in an emergency setting.


Other Requirements:


Comprehensive Crisis Management per policy. If no phlebotomy training upon hire, must successfully complete on the job phlebotomy training including a minimum of 100 successful blood draws by completion of the introductory period. Completion of EKG training within 6 months of hire/transfer. Responsible to safely access, transport, and handle single dose medications to include prescription and non-prescription medications. Responsible to safely access, transport, and handle sharps, such as needles, suture kits, lancets, syringes, etc.
