The Emmaus Community Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of maintenance, cleaning, food service, and laundry services for the Diocese of Orlando Independent Living Community for Retired Priests (Emmaus) ensuring that the residence maintains cleanliness, health and safety standards. Develops and tracks community budget, coordinates with preventative maintenance tasks, cleaning and cooking services, and related administrative tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

General

  • Always maintains a professional and respectful demeanor toward other staff members, service contractors, and residents.
  • Reports all maintenance requests to San Pedro Center’s Operations Manager and coordinates maintenance schedule to the residents.
  • Performs all other tasks related to the upkeep of the community as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Maintains “customer” confidence and protects confidentiality. 
  • Assists in developing and managing the community’s annual budget. 
  • Organizes and hosts a monthly community dinner meeting and designated special luncheons with the residents.

Housekeeping

  • Coordinates cleaning schedule to ensure all units are maintained in an orderly and safe manner, including laundry services for the residents, including rotating, washing, and bed linens.
  • Coordinates and oversees all preventative maintenance schedules for the campus. 

Cooking

  • Plans and coordinates meals services in collaboration with the San Pedro Center’s Food Service Manager.
  • Provides food preparation and meal services when necessary.
  • Prepares necessary supply needs for meal preparation. 
  • Coordinates / Prepares meals for hosted events and community meetings.
  • Supervises volunteers recruited to assist with hosted community meals.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Having a Florida Food Manager Certification is a plus.

ORGANIZATIONAL/INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

Ability to interact respectfully with residents and coworkers, adapting to different personalities without losing focus.

PROBLEM SOLVING AND CONFLICT MANAGEMENT

Must be able to identify problems that arise and resolve them appropriately, using good judgment and initiative according to company policies and procedures.

TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS 

Ability to organize tasks, collaborate with other staff members where applicable, and ensure the timely completion of daily cleaning, laundry, food-related, and maintenance tasks.

LANGUAGE/COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read and follow routine correspondence (i.e., simple directions, cooking recipe). Experience in the hospitality industry a plus. Ability to respond to common inquiries from diocesan entities and visitors. Confidentiality is essential.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as adding, dividing, and multiplying.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift at least 15 pounds. Physical demands include balancing, carrying, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, sitting, standing, stooping, talking, and walking. Also includes the ability to see items close.
