Summary

This Project Manager II role is responsible for leading moderately complex projects and/or strategic business process development and execution. This position is also responsible for acting as support to Senior and Lead Program Managers and engineers for specified projects while representing program management to internal and external stakeholders.  


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Evaluates, determines, and executes project management activities for one or more moderate to complex projects. 

  • Provides expertise to review and drive execution of innovative solutions to technical issues. 

  • Develops cost and schedule framework for projects and project elements; intervenes as necessary to ensure delivery to cost and schedule agreements. 

  • Provides primary support and guidance to the financial planning, monitoring, scheduling, preparation, and release of technical/schedule information required for project execution. 

  • Performs some technical, administrative, and logistical liaison roles with KCNSC, Department of Energy, laboratories, integrated contractors, and other government agencies for one or more growth programs.  

  • Mentors associate project managers and student business interns.   

  • Performs data aggregation through research and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) queries to support forecast modeling. 

  • Regularly sends established reports for project updates to Sr. PM, Lead PM, and sponsor. 

  • Leads project overage investigations and completes paperwork to re-align. 

  • Leads forecast modeling so data can be regularly pulled when needed. 

  • Supports sponsor development/business development as needed to support program management. 


You Must Have


  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time (job description and job posting) e

  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business. 

  • 2+years of relevant experience in engineering, business, or program management 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering 

  • United States Citizenship 

  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job 

  • Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)

  • Project Management Institute (PMI) certification preferred. 

  • Candidates with Engineering Degrees are highly desired.

  • Education related to Engineering practices and processes is highly valued.

  • Experience in a technology and/or manufacturing environment is preferred.

  • Established knowledge of KCNSC customers, products, tools, and processes is a plus.
