Job Summary:
The Engineering Technician is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining the overall functionality and safety of the resort's physical infrastructure. This includes performing preventive maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, pools, and mechanical systems. This team member ensures all engineering tasks are completed efficiently and with minimal disruption to guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on HVAC systems, plumbing fixtures, electrical systems, lighting, doors, locks, furniture, and appliances.
- Respond promptly to guest room maintenance calls and service requests.
- Conduct inspections and carry out preventive maintenance in guest rooms, public spaces, and utility areas.
- Assist with the upkeep and repair of resort facilities, including pools, fitness centers, and spa equipment.
- Monitor building systems (e.g., boilers, pumps, emergency generators) and report malfunctions to the Chief Engineer.
- Maintain engineering tools, supplies, and parts inventory in clean and safe condition.
- Support seasonal opening/closing tasks (e.g., winterization, storm prep).
- Collaborate with housekeeping and front office teams to resolve in-room maintenance issues quickly.
- Ensure all work is performed according to safety protocols and resort standards.
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school or trade training preferred.
- 2+ years of general maintenance or engineering experience in a hospitality or commercial facility.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, electrical, painting, and carpentry.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide range of maintenance issues.
- Familiarity with tools, meters, and safety equipment.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work indoors and outdoors in varied conditions.
- Strong communication and guest service skills.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and emergency shifts.
Physical Requirements:
- Regular standing, walking, lifting, bending, kneeling, and climbing
- Ability to work in tight spaces, on rooftops, or in mechanical areas
- Use of power tools and manual equipment in a safe and controlled manner
