Position Summary
The Queen’s Medical Center is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Epileptologist to join our multidisciplinary Neuroscience Institute. This position offers a unique opportunity to provide comprehensive epilepsy care, contribute to clinical research, and participate in the education of future healthcare professionals in a collaborative academic medical center environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Outpatient Clinical Services
  • Provide attending physician services in the Epilepsy Outpatient Clinic.
  • Evaluate and manage patients with epilepsy and seizure-related disorders.
  • Collaborate with referring and primary care physicians to coordinate care and follow-up.
  • Educate patients on their diagnosis and develop individualized care plans.
  • Identify and communicate clinic needs to support operational efficiency.
  • Assist with patient enrollment and data collection for epilepsy-related clinical trials.
Inpatient & Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) Services
  • Deliver attending physician services in the EMU, including admissions, evaluations, and care planning.
  • Conduct daily inpatient rounds and provide 24/7 on-call coverage as needed.
  • Perform consultations across ICU, ED, and inpatient units.
  • Collaborate with neurology, neurosurgery, and other specialties to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Lead family conferences and provide bedside teaching to house staff.
  • Oversee implanted electrode EEG hookups and perform electrical grid brain mapping.
  • Collaborate with epilepsy surgeons to determine surgical targets.
Neurophysiology Services
  • Interpret neurophysiologic studies (EEG, SSEP), including continuous ICU monitoring.
  • Provide intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring and real-time consultation.
  • Assist in evaluating and selecting neurodiagnostic equipment and technologies.
Educational Responsibilities
  • Participate in Epilepsy Surgery Case Conferences and academic discussions.
  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Provide education to attending physicians, nursing staff, and allied health professionals across departments and facilities.
Research Opportunities
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical research protocols.
  • Collect and analyze data for presentations and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Prepare and submit grant proposals to support clinical research initiatives.
Administrative Collaboration
  • Work with the Medical Director and leadership teams to develop and implement policies and procedures for epilepsy care.
  • Assist in establishing protocols for pediatric epilepsy monitoring and surgical interventions.
  • Participate in strategic planning and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of the Neuroscience Institute.
Minimum Qualifications
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Neurology with fellowship training in Epilepsy or Clinical Neurophysiology.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Hawai‘i.
  • Demonstrated commitment to clinical excellence, education, and research.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative approach to care.
Base salary begins at $273,556/year with opportunity for productivity and quality incentives.
