ER Physician

Location: Lt. Col. Luke Weathers, Jr. VA Medical Center, Memphis, TN 38104.

Position: Full-time

Duties:

• Evaluate and manage a variety of medical conditions.
• Perform emergency procedures such as local anesthesia, laceration repair, and intubation.
• Stabilize patients and coordinate transfers for higher-level care.
• Be present on time for scheduled shifts.
• Review and confirm inpatient admissions.
• Provide consultations and referrals.
• Initiate social work referrals for homeless veterans and patients without primary care providers.
• Provide discharge education and follow-up instructions.

Requirements:

• Board Certification/Board Eligibility in Emergency Medicine through ABEM, ACEP, or AOBEM .
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association or equivalency .
• Compliance with all HIPAA regulations .
• Registration with the National Provider Identifier (NPI) system .
• Proof of current DEA certification .
• Adequate training and competence to perform assigned duties .
