Position: Elementary Learning Specialist/Special Education Teacher
Reports To: Director of Student Support Services
Position Status: Full-Time and Part-Time will be considered

Overview:
The Learning Specialist at SkyView will be responsible for collaborating with classroom teachers, special education team members, and other support staff to ensure that students in grades K-5 have access to the learning support they need in order to succeed.

Desired Qualifications and Attributes:

• Special Education generalist license;

• Bachelor’s degree;

• Strong diagnostic skills;

• Excellent communication skills, including report writing and record keeping;

• Proficient in technology

• Familiar with the MTSS Process

• Effective case management skills

• The belief that the most effective way to promote student achievement is through building meaningful relationships.

• Possess the ability to collaborate with teachers/staff/team to meet the needs of students;

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Participate in and/or lead annual IEP reviews, initial evaluation, and reevaluation meetings;

• Develop IEPs 

• Provide support in the general education classroom;

• Provide one-on-one and/or small group support outside the general education classroom;

• Administer comprehensive learning evaluations;

• Communicate regularly with the Director of Student Services;

• Maintain proper documentation regarding IEPs, accommodations, and parent/teacher communications;

• Collaborate with general education teachers and Support Services staff regarding IEP students;

• Support implementation of the SVA vision & mission, helping set the tone and culture;

• Communicate proactively with students, staff, and parents;

• Embrace feedback from administration in a continuous improvement modality;

• Build appropriate professional relationships with students;

• Collaborate with other SVA staff in all aspects of the school;

• Participate in weekly special education team meeting;

• Other duties as assigned by Administration.

Position Salary Schedule Eligibility:

General

   

Licensed position salaries are set based on one of three salary schedules; General, Hard to Hire, and Specialist/Extremely Hard to Hire. DCSD will award up to 7 years of previous licensed teaching experience at the time of hire. Click HERE to view the current DCSD Licensed Salary Schedules*.

• *All salary amounts listed on the schedules are based on a full-time (1.0) FTE. If applicable, part-time salaries will be prorated according to the assigned FTE.
