Job Description - Exec Sous Chef

An Executive Sous Chef oversees kitchen operations, manages staff, and ensures high-quality food preparation and presentation in a culinary establishment.

Key Responsibilities

Kitchen Management: The Executive Sous Chef assists the Executive Chef in managing daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, inventory management, and maintaining sanitation standards.

Staff Supervision: They are responsible for training, supervising, and scheduling kitchen staff, ensuring that all team members adhere to recipes and food preparation standards.

Menu Planning: The role involves collaborating with the Executive Chef to develop and update menus, ensuring that dishes meet quality and presentation standards.

Quality Control: The Executive Sous Chef monitors food quality and presentation, conducting kitchen audits to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Supplier Liaison: They act as a point of contact between the kitchen and suppliers, managing orders and inventory to ensure the kitchen is well-stocked with necessary ingredients.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Culinary Education: A degree in culinary arts or a related field is typically required, along with several years of experience in a professional kitchen.

Leadership Skills: Proven leadership abilities are essential for managing kitchen staff and ensuring smooth operations.

Culinary Expertise: A strong background in various cooking techniques and cuisines is necessary to maintain high food quality.

Financial Acumen: Experience with budgeting, cost control, and inventory management is important for managing kitchen expenses.
