Job Summary
    
The purpose of the position is to provide executive-level professional assistance to the Executive Vice Provost, Associate Provost for Curriculum, and Associate Provost for Faculty. The Assistant to the Vice Provosts works to ensure smooth and effective operations for the Office of Provost and Senior VP for Academic Affairs. The position is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, coordinating, and managing various executive-level administrative services and personnel actions for the office while exercising independent judgment, as well as decision-making authority in designated areas. The position requires a high degree of personal initiative, flexibility, and personal judgment in all assignments. Along with strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to organize and prioritize tasks to ensure smooth workflow, excellence in work standards, and a commitment to providing effective and efficient customer service.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of and strong command of the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Adobe products, and willingness to learn and utilize new technology as it develops.
  • Knowledge and understanding of university policies and procedures; and electronic platforms for work accomplishment.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute required work activities in a busy work environment, including handling multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with various cultures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to achieve a high level of accuracy and completeness.
  • Ability to use sound judgment.
  • Ability to accommodate shifting priorities and meet deadlines in a busy office environment.
  • Ability to effectively interpret, analyze, and communicate complex internal/external policy, procedural, and process information for operational, planning, and management purposes based on a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of university policies and procedures.
  • Ability to understand and synthesize complex issues and information.
  • Ability to coordinate, delegate, and implement assignments.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships within the office as well as with other academic and administrative divisions.
  • Ability to keep appropriate matters confidential.
  • Ability to assume new responsibilities on own initiative and effectively execute them.
  • Ability to exercise sound, independent judgment when making decisions and functioning calmly and effectively during times of high time and attention demand.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) or more years of experience supporting senior leadership in a higher education setting.
