Executive Housekeeper
Position Overview
Lead housekeeping operations for a high-volume hotel, ensuring guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas consistently meet established cleanliness, presentation, and service standards. This position oversees staffing, training, inspections, departmental planning, and resource management while supporting a positive team culture and an exceptional guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
Direct daily housekeeping activities, including cleaning and sanitation of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
Inspect rooms, bathrooms, and common areas daily to confirm compliance with departmental standards.
Recruit, train, schedule, evaluate, and coach housekeeping team members.
Lead departmental meetings and pre-shift briefings to communicate priorities, expectations, and operational updates.
Establish departmental goals and strategic plans, monitor progress, and implement improvements.
Review guest feedback and inspection scores, address concerns, and develop corrective action plans.
Ensure guest requests receive prompt attention and follow up to confirm satisfaction.
Prepare staffing schedules, labor reports, and productivity reports.
Maintain secure and accurate key-control procedures.
Coordinate with laundry operations to support housekeeping needs.
Train employees on safe equipment operation, chemical handling, and required workplace safety procedures.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, identify hazards, and report equipment repair or replacement needs.
Ensure employees follow established recycling procedures.
Support preparation of monthly profit-and-loss reporting and the annual departmental budget.
Monitor housekeeping and environmental services supply expenses against budget goals.
Order supplies through the inventory management system and communicate with vendors as needed.
Partner with hospitality leadership and the Environmental Services Manager to support property operations.
Reinforce the property’s service standards, organizational values, and a respectful, supportive team culture.
Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, recognized equivalent diploma, or foreign high school diploma.
At least two years of management experience in a large, fast-paced, high-volume hotel housekeeping department as an Executive Housekeeper, Chief Housekeeper, or assistant in either capacity.
Previous customer service experience and a strong commitment to guest satisfaction.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build a supportive team environment.
Thorough knowledge of housekeeping equipment, cleaning supplies, and chemicals.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, including managing competing priorities.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Working knowledge of property management systems and proficiency with rapid-response/service-request systems.
Ability to complete all required safety training, including chemical use, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), OSHA regulations, hazard communication, bloodborne pathogens, and other applicable safety procedures.
Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently reach, lift, and bend.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Availability to work varied shifts and flexible hours.
Willingness to work in a smoking environment and comply with company health and safety requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Executive housekeeping experience within a high-volume casino resort.
Housekeeping experience at a property with a three- or four-Diamond rating.
