The Arc of Ocean County is looking for an experienced Direct Support Professional who brings reliability, compassion, and strong communication skills to the people we support. In this full-time day-shift role, you’ll help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities begin their day with confidence, participate in daily routines, pursue personal goals, and stay connected to their homes and communities.
Your experience as a DSP—and your background in medical case management—can make a meaningful difference in the quality and consistency of the support individuals receive. You’ll work alongside a residential services team while helping create an environment built around dignity, choice, safety, and greater independence.
Position Details
Employment Type: Full-Time (40 Hours Per Week)
Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Starting Pay: $20.70 per hour
Earning Opportunity: Up to $24.70 per hour through shift differentials and overtime
Pay Schedule: Bi-Weekly
Where You'll Make a Difference
Daily Living & Independence
Provide direct support in residential group homes, supervised apartments, and supported living programs throughout the day.
Assist individuals with daily living needs, including meal preparation, medication support, household responsibilities, personal care, and transportation.
Reinforce healthy routines, practical skills, personal responsibility, and decision-making that promote greater independence.
Support individuals in working toward the goals outlined in their individualized service plans and recognize progress along the way.
Community, Recreation & Choice
Encourage and assist with participation in recreation, shopping, community outings, and other social experiences.
Help individuals make choices about their routines, activities, and daily lives.
Promote a home environment where each person is treated with dignity, respect, and encouragement.
Help individuals strengthen the skills they need for fuller participation in their communities.
Health, Safety & Documentation
Follow established medication procedures, agency policies, and safety practices while providing person-centered support.
Maintain residential environments that are clean, safe, comfortable, and welcoming.
Complete electronic documentation, daily service notes, and other required program records accurately.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers to support continuity and consistency of care.
Team-Based Residential Support
Work collaboratively with Residential Services colleagues to provide dependable and compassionate assistance.
Contribute to a workplace culture focused on inclusion, dignity, respect, and individual growth.
Bring your previous DSP experience and medical case management knowledge to the day-to-day support of the people served.
Build on the Experience You Already Have
This opportunity is designed for candidates who have prior DSP experience and can bring additional value through medical case management experience. The Arc of Ocean County provides paid training and ongoing professional development to help employees continue building their skills.

Requirements
Qualifications
Required
Must be at least 18 years of age.
High School Diploma or GED required.
At least one year of prior experience as a Direct Support Professional (DSP).
Medical case management experience.
Valid New Jersey driver's license in good standing with no more than five (5) motor vehicle points.
Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
Demonstrated employment stability, including at least one year with a previous employer, is preferred.
