Fab Shop Assistant / Material Handler 1st Shift

About the Role: 

The Fab Shop Assistant / Material Handler is not a warehouse position.  This position will assist loading/unloading the laser, as well as moving materials to and from the Fab Shop.  The Fab Shop Assistant will also perform other duties within the Fab Shop as needed.  Some of these duties include operating other fab shop machines (grinder, punch, drill, etc.)  Previous experience working in a fabrication shop preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operating a forklift safely to transport materials and/or product within the facility (from / to the fab shop, paint department, production lines and warehouse).
• Loading/unloading materials onto/off the laser.
• Handle materials with care to prevent damage to items being transported to any surrounding property (machinery, racks, support beams, etc.)
• Operating other tools/machines used in Fab Shop, such as grinders, drills, saws, punch, etc.
• Inventory management - keep accurate records of inventory movement (receipts/transfers) within each department.
• Equipment maintenance - perform daily equipment checks, reporting any mechanical issues or problems to your supervisor.
• Safety compliance - adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines to prevent accidents, damage to property, and injuries to yourself or others.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Qualifications: 

• High School Diploma or GED (General Education Degree)
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and good communication skills
• Must be able to read, write and understand English
• Minimum of 3 years' experience operating a forklift in a manufacturing environment
• Experience using tools / machines associated with a Fab Shop (grinder, punch, drills, saws, etc.)
• Previous experience working in a Fabrication Shop preferred.
