The Facilities Maintenance Tech is responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance, repair, and upkeep tasks to support the safe and efficient operation of the mine site facility. This role ensures that buildings, equipment, and site infrastructure are maintained in good working condition while adhering to safety standards and company policies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform general maintenance and repair of buildings, structures, and site infrastructure (e.g., doors, walls, flooring, lighting, plumbing, and fixtures)
Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and potential issues
Complete minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical repairs
Maintain and repair industrial equipment and support systems as needed
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues
Assist with preventative maintenance programs and scheduled servicing
Operate hand tools, power tools, and basic maintenance equipment safely
Ensure compliance with MSHA and company safety regulations
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and maintenance logs
Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors when necessary
Support facility upgrades, installations, and improvement projects
Required Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
2+ years of maintenance or handyman experience, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment
Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems
Ability to read and follow technical instructions, manuals, and blueprints (preferred)
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Good communication and teamwork abilities
Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be able to operate a light vehicle.
Ability to work in an industrial environment requiring the use of PPE when required
Physical Demands: To be eligible for this position, an individual must possess the following requirements to perform the essential job functions:
Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking on uneven surfaces, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion.
Able to operate a telephone and mine phone/radio with sufficient voice and hearing to carry on a conversation for the purpose of communicating information.
Comfortable working at heights and using ladders or lifts
Able to hear sufficiently to distinguish various pitches of warning alarms.
