The Facilities Technician is responsible for site Facilities, Maintenance, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), and Site Security activities. This role ensures that offices, cleanrooms, and common areas remain safe, clean, organized, and fully operational.
The Facilities Technician will work closely with internal stakeholders, landlords, contractors, and third-party service providers to identify and address facility needs, coordinate maintenance and repairs, and execute facilities-related projects. The role will also plan, communicate, and coordinate facility moves and changes with minimal disruption to business operations.
The Facilities Technician will maintain accurate electronic records of facility activities, inspections, maintenance, qualifications, and related documentation to support operational needs, audits, and periodic management review.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety and Compliance:
– Collaborate with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) partners to maintain a safe and compliant workplace
– Ensure adherence to quality and safety standards and all applicable external regulations including the Gentuity Quality Management System (QMS)
– Conduct regular gemba walks throughout offices, cleanrooms, common areas, and other facility spaces to identify trip, fire, chemical, housekeeping, and other potential hazards.
– Document identified issues and ensure appropriate corrective actions are completed and followed through to closure.
– Support facility-related activities associated with internal and external audits.
Management & Recordkeeping
– Source, manage external vendors for EHS, Access Control & Security, Pest Control, Office Cleaning and Janitorial services, Bio-Hazard/Chemical/Sharps/Cardboard, Waste disposal + other services as required.
– Partner with landlords to ensure that necessary repairs are carried out in a timely manner. Manage construction timelines and permit applications where required.
– Develop and manage the annual budget, and purchase the necessary inventory and spares to keep the site running smoothly.
– Maintain up to date CAD drawings of the facilities, cleanrooms and common areas.
– Lead Facility moves, and relocation as needed.
– Maintain accurate electronic records of inspections, preventive maintenance, cleanroom qualifications, vendor activities, repairs, projects, and other facility-related work.
– Ensure documentation is readily available to support audits, compliance requirements, and periodic management review.
– Maintain organized records of facility drawings, permits, certifications, service reports, and other relevant documentation.
Facilities and Equipment:
– Oversee cleanroom qualification activities, including airflow and particulate measurements and other required testing.
– Coordinate and maintain preventive maintenance programs for cleanroom filters, fans, vents, and related equipment.
– Ensure HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, and other critical facility systems remain functional, reliable, and appropriately supported with redundancy where required.
– Partner with landlords and service providers to ensure preventive maintenance activities are completed on schedule and properly documented.
– Coordinate facilities repairs and maintenance activities while minimizing disruption to manufacturing and other site operations.
– Source, relocate, and dispose of office furniture and equipment as needed.
– Ensure office and facility layouts are maintained in accordance with applicable OSHA and safety requirements.
– Ensure kitchens, bathrooms, and other common areas are adequately stocked and maintained.
Required Qualifications:
– 4–8 years of experience in Medical Device Facilities Management, Facilities Engineering, Maintenance, or a related technical field.
– Demonstrated experience supporting cleanroom environments, preferably within a medical device or similarly regulated industry.
– Working knowledge of facility systems, including HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, and related building systems.
– Experience managing third-party contractors and service providers.
– Strong understanding of workplace safety, compliance, and facility maintenance practices.
– Ability to work effectively with internal customers, vendors, landlords, contractors, and cross-functional teams.
– Must be able to work full-time on-site in Sudbury, MA, with occasional travel to Bedford, MA.
– Must be willing to be on-site for critical alarms 24/7
– Must be able to lift 50 lb.
Preferred Qualifications:
– Experience with 5S and Continuous Improvement methodologies
– Certifications such as Certified Facilities Manager (CFM), OSHA Safety Certification
