Job Description:

SHIFT - M-F 8:30-5, with some weekend and night events

Collaborates with Family Services Support Coordinators to deliver a compassionate continuum of care for both organ and tissue donor families, as well as OurLegacy spirit families. Provides or assists in providing onsite support to donor families and hospital staff through withdrawal process, memory making, and Honor Walk activities. Connects with families, post-donation through phone calls to assess grief needs and offer appropriate companioning, including providing necessary community referrals. Plans and leads grief support meetings and programming. Ensures timely development and distribution to donor families of donation follow-up materials, and other time-sensitive mailings. Facilitates communications between OurLegacy donor families and recipients. Maintains an inventory of current library of grief literature and list of appropriate community-based offerings to support families. Partners with Public Relations staff to organize and support opportunities for family gatherings and remembrance. Participates in OurLegacy meetings and quality improvement initiatives. Stays abreast of donor family aftercare education offerings through participation in national conferences, webinars, and council activities. Represents OurLegacy in a professional manner including personal appearance and communication with fellow colleagues and external partners.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proven effective at establishing rapport and working relationships with diverse groups and personalities both remotely, via phone, email, and in person.

• Ability to handle difficult situations with poise and professionalism (telephone, correspondence, email, and in person).

• Excellent written and verbal communication, proofreading and composition skills, including knowledge of appropriate formatting and styles for correspondence, reports, and related items.

• The ability to offer 1:1 companioning sessions for donor families.

• The ability to create meaningful ongoing grief support during all phases of the donation process including onsite hospital processes.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.

• Ability to write, read, and speak Spanish Preferred



Education:

• Bachelor's [Required]

• Master's [Preferred]



Field of Study:

• in Communication or education-related field or social work.

• in communications-related field (public relations, marketing, journalism, etc.)



Work Experience:

• Experience in health communication [Preferred]

• Grief support experience [Preferred]

• Social work experience [Preferred]



Additional Information:


Licenses and Certifications:

•Clinical Social Worker License (LCSW) [Preferred]
