Position Summary

The Feed & Ag Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily feed store operations during assigned shifts. This position provides leadership and direction to team members while ensuring excellent customer service, safe operating practices, accurate inventory management, efficient product handling, and compliance with company policies and procedures. The Shift Supervisor serves as the first point of contact for employee support and operational issues and helps ensure the department operates efficiently and safely.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Team Leadership


  • Lead, coach, and support feed department employees during assigned shifts.

  • Delegate tasks and ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently.

  • Assist with onboarding and training new employees.

  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive workplace culture.

  • Communicate operational updates and customer concerns to management.

  • Address routine employee and customer issues and escalate concerns as needed.


 

Customer Service


  • Provide exceptional customer service to retail and commercial feed customers.

  • Assist customers with product selection, order fulfillment, and loading assistance.

  • Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers.


Feed Operations


  • Oversee receiving, unloading, storing, and merchandising feed products.

  • Verify product quantities and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and damage.

  • Ensure feed inventory is rotated and stocked appropriately.

  • Monitor inventory levels and report shortages, damaged products, or discrepancies.

  • Assist with feed order preparation, bagging, loading, and delivery coordination.

  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe warehouse and sales floor areas.


Inventory and Asset Protection


  • Conduct routine inventory counts and assist with inventory control processes.

  • Protect company assets, equipment, and inventory.

  • Ensure proper handling and storage of feed products.

  • Monitor product quality and expiration dates.

  • Report inventory variances, damaged goods, and shrink concerns.


Safety and Compliance


  • Follow and enforce all CBH CO-OP safety policies and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, feed handling, and other applicable regulations.

  • Promote safe lifting, loading, and equipment operation practices.

  • Report accidents, injuries, hazards, and safety concerns immediately.

  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment and work areas.


Facility and Equipment Maintenance


  • Assist with maintaining feed mixers, forklifts, scales, conveyors, and other equipment.

  • Perform routine housekeeping and grounds maintenance.

  • Report equipment malfunctions and maintenance needs promptly.

  • Ensure department appearance meets company standards.




 

Essential Functions


  • Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.

  • Lead and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.

  • Prioritize safety while balancing customer service and operational demands.

  • Communicate effectively with customers, employees, vendors, and management.

  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, computerized inventory systems, and other feed department equipment.

  • Perform duties independently with minimal supervision.




Physical and Work Requirements


  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, push, and pull.

  • Safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds with assistance.

  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

  • Operate forklifts and material-handling equipment safely.

  • Exposure to dust, grain products, feed ingredients, and warehouse environments.

  • Perform repetitive hand and arm movements.

  • Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.




Qualifications


  • High school diploma or GED.

  • One to three years of experience in feed, agriculture, warehouse, retail, or related operations.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

  • Ability to lead and motivate employees.

  • Basic computer and inventory management skills.

  • Ability to safely operate material-handling equipment or obtain certification.


Preferred


  • Previous supervisory or lead experience.

  • Feed industry, agronomy, livestock, or agriculture experience.

  • Forklift certification.

  • Experience with inventory control systems.

  • Knowledge of feed products and livestock nutrition.
