Job Description - Field Leader - Commercial Painting
Field Leader – Commercial Painting
Kaloutas, Inc. | Greater Boston Area
$65,000–$76,000/year + bonus, company vehicle, PTO, and benefits
About Us
Kaloutas is a commercial painting, industrial flooring, and fireproofing contractor headquartered in North Andover, MA, with offices across New England. We're looking for a Field Leader to oversee multiple commercial projects across the Greater Boston area.
The Role
Our Field Leaders don't run crews by being the boss. They develop the foremen who run them. You'll spend your days on our jobsites, keeping projects on schedule and on budget, representing Kaloutas to our GC partners, and helping our foremen grow into stronger leaders. If you'd rather coach a foreman through a problem than solve it for him, this is the role for you.
What You'll Do
Lead and develop people
Coach and mentor foremen in leadership, communication, plan reading, and technical skills
Find training opportunities that strengthen field performance and safety culture
Build teamwork, accountability, and professionalism across your crews
Manage projects
Plan job setups: equipment, materials, lifts, and manpower before work starts
Take part in handoff meetings with Operations and Estimating so scope, schedule, and expectations are clear from day one
Coordinate daily schedules across crews and subcontractors
Track and document scope changes and additional work
Own the numbers
Manage budgets for every project you oversee, including hours, materials, and production targets
Track manpower hours against budget and report cost-to-complete, flagging concerns early
Work with the Operations Manager weekly on performance and manpower allocation
Build client relationships
Serve as Kaloutas's on-site representative with GCs and superintendents
Communicate progress, schedule changes, and field needs clearly and professionally
Resolve issues collaboratively and protect our reputation for reliability and quality
Keep jobs safe and right
Enforce OSHA and company safety standards, and make sure weekly toolbox talks happen
Conduct weekly quality checks against company standards and project specs
What You Bring
5+ years of experience in commercial painting, including at least 2 years as a foreman
Lift/aerial certification (scissor lift and boom lift)
Experience working directly with general contractors and site superintendents
A coaching-first leadership style
Working knowledge of project budgets, manpower planning, and production tracking
Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable with email and project tracking tools (we use Smartsheet)
Valid driver's license
Located within about 30 minutes of Boston
Preferred
OSHA 30 certification
What We Offer
$65,000–$76,000 annual salary, based on experience
