Field Service Generator Technician

Position Summary/Objective:

We are currently seeking qualified applicants to join our family team of over 42 years. This position is for permanent and full-time employment to work within the state of Massachusetts. The Field Service Generator Technician plays a critical role on our Generator Service Team. This role is responsible for servicing and maintaining our generator service contracts.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Service, diagnose and repair all components of diesel and natural gas engine generators (8kw to 2,000kw), transfer switches and service gear.


• Performs preventative maintenance tasks, including oil changes, lubrication and load testing.


• Read and apply technical manuals, point-to-point diagrams, and schematics.


• Follows safety protocols.


• Responsible for company-owned equipment and vehicle.


• Complies with company policies, procedures and standards of conduct and appearance to reflect positively on the company image.


• Other duties as assigned.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time hourly position that requires flexibility to accommodate our customers’ needs and schedules. Employee is expected to work an identified schedule every day based on business need. Availability for on-call rotation and after hours emergencies, and accessible to collaborate with on-call techs when necessary.

Supervisor Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisor responsibilities.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• Clean driving record and valid driver’s license.


• High School Diploma or equivalent.


• Technical degree or certification a plus.


• Kohler and/or Generac certification preferred, willing to get company-funded certification if not.


• Minimum of 1 year of experience.

Workplace Environment:

Environmental & Working Conditions: This position works primarily offsite on commercial, industrial and residential properties.

Manual Duties/Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., sit and stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, bend, reach overhead, kneel and balance to meet the physical requirements of this position.

Work is often done in a time sensitive and demanding environment. There are often important deadlines and the requirement to coordinate work on multiple complex assignments at the same time.

Must pass a background check performed on all employees at time of employment and periodically during employment.
