This is a full time remote role. Applicants residing in MD, VA, DC, PA, DE and FL will be considered.


 


 


 


Must have prior authorization experience in a hospital setting- surgery, MRI, etc. 


 


 


Position Summary:


 


Reporting to the Financial Clearance Manager/or Supervisor, the Financial Clearance Coordinator will be responsible for all administrative and financial components of financial clearance. Some of the financial components consist of pre-registration, insurance verification, pre-certification, and patient financial information. The position is also responsible for informing the patient/guarantor of all financial liabilities and documenting pertinent information into appropriate systems. The position requires integral communication with patients, insurance companies, department administrators, physicians, and other departmental staff to ensure the ideal patient experience. The Financial Clearance Coordinator works as a team member and positively accepts change throughout the Health System while establishing relationships at all facilities and be familiar with each institution’s computer environment and payer contracts as needed. 


 


 


 


 


Education:


High School Diploma or equivalent 


 


 


Knowledge:



  • Knowledge of medical and insurance terminology

  • Knowledge of medical insurance plans; especially manage care plans

  • Requires ability to understand, interpret, evaluate, and resolve basic customer service issues.

  • Knowledge of the Johns Hopkins Health System or other Healthcare related policies and procedures, preferred. Skills:

  • Intermediate in Microsoft Office

  • Requires excellent verbal, communication, telephone etiquette, interviewing, and interpersonal skills to interact with peers, superiors, patients, families, members of the healthcare team and external agencies. 

  • Requires intermediate analytical skills to resolve problems and provide patient and referring physicians with information and assistance with pre-registration and registration issues.

  • Ability to perform with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work

  • Ability to demonstrate and convey a favorable image of the organization and conform to proper standards of professional dress, attitude, and demeanor.

  • Requires high level of professionalism in both appearance and presentation 


 


Required Licensure Certification, etc.



  • Certification on host systems as appropriate. Certification to be obtained during introductory 90 day probationary period

  • Successful completion of departmental training program and all related competency assessments.

  • Coding Certification is a plus


 


 


Work Experience:


1-2 years related medical office, hospital, or similar customer service environment 


 


 


 


 











 


 


 


Salary Range: Minimum 20.52/hour - Maximum 33.88/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
