Fire Life Safety Director

We are seeking a professional and experienced Fire and Life Safety Director (FLSD) to oversee the safety and security operations of our facility. The FLSD will be responsible for protecting the premises, staff, tenants, and visitors by enforcing fire safety procedures, monitoring building systems, and responding effectively to emergencies.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent judgment under pressure, and extensive knowledge of fire and life safety regulations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, secure, and compliant environment for all occupants.

Experience Required:
Minimum of 2 year of experience in security, fire safety, or related field required.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular patrols of the premises to maintain safety and security presence
• Monitor fire alarm systems, CCTV systems, and building safety equipment
• Respond promptly to fire alarms, emergencies, and other incidents
• Coordinate emergency evacuations and implement fire safety procedures when necessary
• Monitor and authorize entry of employees, visitors, and contractors into the property
• Investigate suspicious activities, safety hazards, or unlawful behavior
• Ensure all exits, fire doors, stairwells, and emergency equipment remain accessible and operational
• Maintain accurate daily activity logs and incident reports
• Assist emergency responders including FDNY, EMS, and law enforcement during emergencies
• Enforce building safety regulations and company policies
• Provide assistance to tenants, visitors, and staff as needed

Qualifications & Skills:

• Proven experience as an FLSD, Security Officer, or related position
• Valid FLSD Certification required - Z89, F89, T89
• Valid New York State Security Guard License required
• Knowledge of fire and life safety systems, emergency procedures, and public safety regulations
• Strong surveillance, observation, and report-writing skills
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities
• Ability to remain calm and respond effectively during emergencies
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
