About the Role

A leading engineering consultancy in Florida is seeking a Senior Fire Protection / MEP Designer to join their growing team. In this role, you’ll take ownership of projects, mentor junior designers, and provide technical leadership across fire protection and MEP disciplines. You’ll be client-facing and play a key role in delivering high-quality design documents for complex projects across multiple markets.

Responsibilities

• 
  

  Lead design and layout of fire protection and MEP systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire alarm, and sprinkler).

  
  


• 
  

  Prepare and review hydraulic calculations, equipment sizing, and design documentation.

  
  


• 
  

  Oversee drafting and modeling in AutoCAD and Revit, ensuring accuracy and quality control.

  
  


• 
  

  Review codes (NFPA, IBC, NEC, Florida Building Code, etc.) for compliance and interpret them for project teams.

  
  


• 
  

  Mentor and support junior designers, reviewing work and providing guidance.

  
  


• 
  

  Coordinate directly with architects, contractors, and engineering teams during design and construction.

  
  


• 
  

  Attend client meetings and provide technical expertise on fire protection and MEP design issues.

  
  


• 
  

  Support business development by contributing to proposals and project planning.

  
  

Qualifications

• 
  

  6+ years of design experience in fire protection and/or MEP systems.

  
  


• 
  

  Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit required.

  
  


• 
  

  Strong knowledge of NFPA standards, IBC, NEC, and Florida Building Code.

  
  


• 
  

  NICET certification (Fire Sprinkler or Fire Alarm) preferred.

  
  


• 
  

  Strong communication and organizational skills with client-facing experience.

  
  


• 
  

  Ability to lead projects and mentor junior staff.
