Job Description - Fire Watch Labor

Fire and Safety Watch

  • Responsible for adhering to all Company and Project safety programs, policies, and procedures as well as all Federal, State, and local safety codes and regulations.
  • Successfully complete Company safety induction training to perform the requirements aligned with this responsibility.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions with assignment of specific tasks under direct and indirect supervision and instruction.
  • Prep, setup and inspect equipment and the entire work area to make ready for the hot work activity.
  • Be prepared to operate fire extinguishers and water hose source supply at any time.
  • Maintain constant watch during the shift while the work is being done and coordinate relief efforts for substitution with need of break and/or other circumstance that results in leaving fire watch post.
  • Surveillance of surroundings to ensure there are no hot sparks, burning embers and other fire hazards.
  • Responsible to stop work if necessary and conduct essential steps for restoring safe conditions within the hot work area.
  • Notifying emergency services in the event of a fire and become familiar with emergency alarm procedure.
  • When all hot work operations are complete, must not leave the fire watch post until the required hours for watch has been met.
  • Once watch hours are met, must return all firefighting equipment to its original location.

    Laborer

  • Mixes materials and assists craft workers in building rebar armature, lathing/backing, structure and texture shoots.
  • Prep, setup and cleanup of all cementitious pumping operations to include cleaning of equipment and spoils and debris.
  • Assists in the operation and maintenance of concrete pumps, plaster pumps and air compressors.
  • Basic occupational ability where simple and precise tasks are performed by rote or habit and thinking is limited by established and set procedures.

  • Demonstrate ability to adjust to sudden changes in operational goals/demands.
  • Must be able to read, comprehend and carry out simple instructions from oral or written communications.

Working Conditions / Schedule


  • While performing the duties of this job, this is an in-field position and hours will be determined by the Superintendent (based on daylight hours and project needs).
    • Shift 1: 6:00am - 2:30pm / Pay Rate: $17.00-$18.00
    • Shift 2: 9:30am - 6:00pm/ Pay Rate; $24.00
