Are you ready to take action when it matters most? American Ordnance is looking for dedicated and driven individuals to join our team as a Firefighter. In this critical role, you’ll respond to emergencies, operate firefighting equipment, maintain fire apparatus readiness, and help protect people, property, and operations every day. As the Firefighter here’s the work you’ll do:



  • Safely drive firefighting units to and from fires or other emergencies following laws and regulations. Operate pumps and power and other mechanical equipment as required. Keep inventory of tools and equipment on trucks.

  • Clean and service units, maintaining them in a condition of readiness. Report mechanical failures or difficulties and missing or damaged equipment.

  • Operate various Fire Department pumping apparatus with multiple water intake and discharge situations at an emergency scene with limited supervision.

  • Perform required fire truck cleaning duties, inventory checks and daily/weekly/monthly inspections. Inventories must be check after every emergency response or training drill.


 


This role is for you if you have these Qualifications:



  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required.

  • Must possess a valid REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, which includes the gold or black star in the upper corner, indicating it is federally compliant OR Current Passport.

  • Two years related experience Required.

  •  Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Fire Inspector I, Driver Operator Pumper I, Hazmat Technician Required.

  • Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Required. 

  • Must pass quarterly and yearly physical agility testing.

  • Must be able to obtain secret clearance.

  • A positive attitude and the ability to collaborate with team members is essential for contributing to a cohesive work environment.

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $29.60 - $30.78/HR. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).

•    Climbing (e.g. ascending/descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, pole, etc. using feet and legs and hands/arms to climb)

•    Capacity to think, concentrate and focus for long periods of time.
•    Ability to read complex documents in (English) language.
•    Capacity to reason and make sound decisions.
•    Ability to write complex documents in the (English) language. 
•    Capacity to express thoughts orally.
•    Ability to wear a mask, respirator, bullet proof vest, or other equipment.
•    Ability to withstand environmental conditions (e.g. extreme heat or cold, grass, wind, sand, fumes, odors, gases, extreme noise, etc.)
