First Year Composition (EN100) Adjunct Instructor

The Elizabethtown College Department of English seeks an Adjunct Instructor-First Year Composition for an on-campus role in a classroom.  

The Adjunct will deliver foundational coursework with emphasis on information literacy, the research process, and revision. 

This position will start in the spring semester (January 2027). Assigned courses are tentatively scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays at 11:00am and 12:30pm.

We seek a candidate who uses current composition pedagogy and employs active learning. At this point in time, the class days & times have not been determined.

• Maryland
• Maine
• New Jersey
• North Carolina
• Pennsylvania
• Virginia

Also, please submit ACT153 clearances consisting of the PA Child Abuse, PA State Police and FBI (Dept. of Human Services) if completed within the last five years, since this role may include teaching dual-enrollment minors.  If clearances are not available, if hired,  the College will work with the candidate to obtain. 

• Master’s degree or higher in English, Rhetoric, Journalism, or Creative Writing.
• Evidence of teaching experience, including experience teaching first year composition.
• Evidence of experience and expertise in designing in-person instruction.
• Ability to teach in-person sections.
