The First Year Experience (FYE) Coordinator reports directly to the TRIO Director of Student Support Services and serves to create, support, and facilitate student engagement for our TRIO SSS and SSS STEM first-year students. FYE Coordinator will oversee significant aspects of the first-year experience, including chairing the First-Year Experience Advisory Committee, develop and maintain the First-Year Experience Canvas course, and is responsible for the hiring, training, and evaluation of First-Year Experience Student Leaders, the Communications Intern, and Summer Student Ambassadors. The FYE Coordinator will also participate in recruiting, identifying, and enrolling eligible students during UW Oshkosh’s Titan Takeoff Orientations along with supporting SSS and SSS STEM Academic Advisors and the Student Success Coach with persistence, retention and graduation initiatives of the programs. The FYE Coordinator will oversee TRIO SSS and SSS STEM program communication and social media as well as maintain current and accurate program files to be in compliance with the federal regulations and college policies.
During the academic year, evening hours on a weekly basis may be required. Evening hours in the summer and weekend hours during both the academic year and summer on an occasional basis are required.
25% Oversee TRIO SSS and SSS STEM program communication and social media. This includes the supervision of the Communication Intern and overseeing the TRIO SSS and SSS STEM communication mediums such as the TRIO SSS newsletter, program flyers, and social media platforms. Program communication and social media responsibilities includes the following:
5% Perform other duties as assigned by the TRIO SSS/SSS STEM director.
5% Support the program objectives of the TRIO SSS/SSS STEM Grant by assisting to recruit eligible students into the program and obtain documentation to verify program eligibility. Be an advocate for first-generation and limited-income students by serving on campus committees and participating in campus events and activities that support our TRIO SSS/SSS STEM students.
35% Responsible for the planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating a first-year experience program aimed at increasing the engagement, persistence, retention, and success of new students participating in the TRIO SSS and SSS STEM programs.
30% Recruits, hires, and manages the First-Year Experience Student Leaders and the Student Ambassadors to include supervisory responsibilities for the following:
