Description

Under the direction of the Shop Manager, the shop mechanic ensures the safe and efficient operation of a variety of small and large equipment and vehicles. The mechanic helps maintain both gas and diesel equipment by completing repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance; correcting vehicle deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments; and keeping accurate records. An ideal candidate would also have some experience with welding and fabricating.


Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
  • Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.
  • Performs routine fleet maintenance including changing oil, checking batteries, lubricating equipment and parts, and adjusting and aligning wheels.
  • Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as:
  • power and drive trains electrical
  • air conditioning fuel
  • systems emissions brake
  • systems
  • steering mechanisms
  • transmissions hydraulics

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have Valid Driver's License and ability to maintain insurable driving record at all times.
  • Must have own tools
  • Ability to work safely at all times in all conditions
  • Ability to be on call for all shifts during winter snow season
  • Ability to carry 50 lbs. and occasionally loads up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to maintain shop organization at all times

Desired Skills:

  • Engine diagnosis & troubleshooting skills both gas and diesel, heavy and light equipment
  • Electrical systems on trucks, equipment and trailers
  • Small trailer repair experience
  • Change and balance equipment tires
  • Small engine repair experience
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
  • Auto certifications a plus
  • Welding skills a plus
