Fleet Generalist

Are you an organized, detail-oriented professional with a passion for keeping fleet operations running smoothly? Farmers Electric Cooperative is seeking a Fleet Generalist to help maintain our shop and fleet inventory, manage DOT compliance, and ensure our field teams have the equipment and parts they need to succeed.

Working alongside our Fleet Specialist and reporting directly to the Director of Fleet and System Operations, you will play a key role in managing daily fleet operations. From scheduling maintenance and tracking inventory to conducting local parts runs and maintaining DOT compliance, your work will directly minimize downtime and keep our team moving safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Fleet & Equipment Maintenance: Schedule routine maintenance, repairs, and recall services for company vehicles. Assist with vehicle purchases, replacements, and fleet management software updates.


• Inventory & Parts Management: Maintain accurate inventory levels for spare parts, tires, fuel, and shop fluids. Execute timely local parts runs to pick up critical components and tools.


• Regulatory & DOT Compliance: Review federal, state, and local DOT regulations. Ensure all vehicle paperwork, such as registrations, insurance cards, fuel cards, and driver records are current and fully compliant.


• Vendor & Public Relations: Work closely with external mechanics, contractors, and vendors. Assist members, developers, builders, and the general public with fleet-related inquiries.


• Operational Support: Maintain accurate vehicle and driver databases, strictly follow all safety protocols, and contribute to continuous process improvements.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: Experience in fleet management, DOT coordination, or related operational, shop, or transportation experience is preferred. Experience in utility operations is a plus!


• Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
