Job Description - Fleet Manager

Job Description:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Supervise and coordinate a fleet of over the road drivers by providing training and education and ensuring the drivers are focused on reaching corporate goals.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Control cost by following established guidelines and promptness of: swaps, T-Calls, and repowers.  Generate accurate weekend pay reports.
  • Assist and participate in the creation of department actions plans that support the company’s strategic business plan. Establish, modify, document and coordinate job documentation or areas managed.  Manage, assign, delegate, and direct duties of drivers. 
  • Appraise performances, coach, counsel, reward, and discipline drivers.  Maintain harmony among workers and resolve conflicts.  Terminate drivers, if necessary. 
  • Support and enforce operational and personnel policies, company programs, and procedures.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending and participating in appropriate training.  Ensure company confidentiality.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Broad knowledge of such fields as accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc.  Equivalent to a four-year college degree, plus 7 to 11 months related experience and/or training, and 1 to 6 months related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal working conditions as found within an office setting, wherein there is controlled temperature and a low noise level, plus a minimum of distractions.
