Fleet Safety Trainer I

Job Overview

The role of the Fleet Safety Trainer is to coach and train CDL drivers and maintain compliance and improve driving standards to maximize efficiency and reduce operational costs across the fleet. The Fleet Safety Trainer will also be responsible for retraining and maintaining training records for all CDL drivers. This individual will also oversee recruiting for CDL drivers, including prescreening, interviewing, and submitting offers for applicants.

Job Requirements

• Professional appearance
• Experience administrating activities/delivering training in a classroom/creating training guidelines.
• Knowledge of, and the ability to, teach Smith System, 8 Basic Modules, and Driver 101/102 courses.
• Ability to interview and hire CDL applicants.
• Ability to road test CDL applicants.
• Able to understand FMCSA driving regulations.
• Ability to plan and deliver the induction plan for new drivers. 
• Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines and effectively prioritize and executes tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• Must be able to travel.
• Positive attitude with strong interpersonal skills

• Coordinate and work effectively with multiple departments to continuously improve processes, maximize efficiency, and exceed customer service expectations.
• Knowledge and experience using appropriate methods to assess driver skills.
• Ability to Work with peers/other driving trainers to ensure companywide consistency in approach to training and development.
• Appraises employee performance communicates goals and expectations, provides honest feedback, and coaches team members.
• Ensure training records are kept up to date and files are maintained.
• Communicates, leads, and develops teamwork with the AFW management team and delivery drivers.
• Review driver’s infringements and arrange re-training when necessary.
• Must possess great time management and organizational skills
• Professional with good communication skills
• Able to work 10+ hours a day and have the flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, holidays, and weekends.
• Knowledge of GPS equipment
• Always demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and professionalism.

Compensation

Starting at $22 and up depending on experience 

Pay Grade D: $19.72-36.63

Physical Requirements

• Requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, & bend for 8 hours or more daily
• Requires constant use of arms, hands, fingers, eyes, legs, and back.

• Capability to stand, walk, stoop, & bend for 8 hours or more daily.
• Lifting, gripping, bending, kneeling, stooping, and moving merchandise 8 hours or more daily.
• Continuous use of arms, hands, fingers, eyes, legs, and back.
• Ability to lift, lower, move, carry, push and pull all sizes of merchandise up to 100 lbs. and the skill to handle/manipulate merchandise up to 250 lbs. frequently.

• Able to work in various environments with different lighting, loud exterior noise, and flooring.
